Description
Located in Montesinho Natural Park, with stunning views over meadows and an oak forest, Bétula Studios are located in the quiet village of Lagomar, 8 km from the centre of Bragança, which allows for a relaxed stay in the middle of nature with all the advantages of the town – like its castle in a charming citadel, several museums and a wide variety of restaurants.
There are 4 studios, each with a double bedroom, WC, kitchenette, living room with sofa bed and private balcony, with maximum capacity for 3 adults or 2 adults + 3 children. They are all the same size: 32 m2 of indoor floor space + 15 m2 outdoor balcony. Two of those have a wood stove and mezzanine, loved by children and teenagers. The kitchenette is equipped with an induction hob, fridge with freezer, microwave, toaster, hand blender and coffee maker, with all cooking utensils.
Although breakfast is not included, on arrival guests have a welcome basket, with local bread and honey, homemade jam, yogurts, butter and organic milk (or vegan alternative, if requested in advance). There are also some basic ingredients available: coffee, tea, sugar, salt and olive oil.
There’s no TV, but the studios have Wi-Fi, as well as books and magazines in several languages and games for the whole family.
In addition to the passive buiding design, with construction and decoration materials that have a low impact on the environment, favoring woods of European origin, certified by the FSC, cork and bamboo, there are other concerns of environmental sustainability, such as the collection of rainwater from the roofs, garden with low-maintenance autochthonous plants, use of highly biodegradable hygiene and cleaning products.
The solar orientation, to the south, guarantee thermal comfort both in summer and winter. High quality thermal insulation, window frames and glass, lighting entirely in low power LED, photovoltaic solar panels and appliances with maximum efficiency, ensure low energy consumption.
Being one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal, Montesinho Natural Park has plenty of marked trails, along rivers, through chestnut and olm oak forests and rocky ridges, where you can spot 80% of mammals of Portugal, such as wolfs, read deer, roe deer, wild boar and otters. In the sky, one hundred and fifty species of birds, make the region a paradise for ornithologists and other nature lovers.
