Cerdeira – Home for Creativity is a rural tourism space closely linked to creation and artistic training, located in Serra da Lousã, about 37 kilometers from Coimbra. It has ten restored shale houses and a set of infrastructures and work workshops.
The houses offer all the comfort of a modern home, but without the distractions of the city, transporting any visitor to a space of tranquility and inspiration. Here, television has been replaced by books and board games. At the window, there are no buildings, but a breathtaking view of the mountains or the picturesque corners of the village. In Cerdeira, no two houses are alike: each had the intervention of contemporary craft artists who created original pieces of art inspired by the village and its natural surroundings.
But Cerdeira isn’t just a place to sleep. There are also many activities here, especially for those more determined to get down to work. There are several creative experiences, of around 3 hours, aimed at both adults and youngsters: from learning techniques such as Ceramic Figurework, Introduction to the Potter’s Wheel, a Regional Cooking Workshop or even a Wooden Toys Workshop.
Once installed in the village, guests also have at their disposal nine itineraries prepared by Cerdeira to explore the central region of the country, with suggestions for walking routes and a selection of places of cultural and historical interest, as well as maps detailed. For the more radical, it’s possible to walk along mountain trails, go mountain biking, canyoning or paragliding.
Café da Videira is the place where guests can have breakfast, eat a light meal with products from the region or enjoy one of the homemade cakes that come out daily from the Cerdeira oven. It is one of the most inviting spaces in the village, where guests and curious visitors can enjoy a beautiful view over the Serra da Lousã.
